24th Annual Talk Story Festival

Friday, Oct. 19 through Saturday, Oct. 20

Listen to spooky stories in the middle of Ala Moana Beach Park. Nine storytellers, including guests from the Mainland and Japan, are each sharing a 20-minute story on stage. The scary ones, including interpretations of Edgar Allan Poe or terror tales of Asian ghosts and souls, are being told Friday; the family stories such as My Mama Monologues and the Pacific Island Tale I Give of Me are presented Saturday. Free, both 6 to 9 p.m., McCoy Pavilion Ala Moana Beach Park, www1.honolulu.gov/parks/programs/talkstory.index.htm.
