Informational Workshop Planned for Undocumented Youth

Honolulu, Hawaii – August 13, 2012 - President Obama and the Department of Homeland Security have announced a new program that could provide some undocumented persons who came to the United States as children a way to stay in the country and to get temporary work permission.  It has been estimated that there are over 3,200 potentially eligible youths here in Hawaii.

On Wednesday, August 29, at 6:30 pm, a free Informational Workshop on the new Deferred Action program will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1020 South Beretania Street in Honolulu.  Immigration lawyers and community representatives will be on hand to answer questions and to provide reliable information.  Potential applicants will be able to ask questions and receive informational materials.

This workshop will allow people with questions to get the facts and start their planning now.  The workshop is being sponsored by Faith Action for Community Equity (FACE), Catholic Charities Hawaii and the Hawaii Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
