Entertainment { In Hawaii, we work hard and play hard. Find out what’s happening in local culture, arts, dining and more.

We’re on it

We know it for its use of local meats and veg, for its killer Reuben and roast beef sands and this simple, juicy aged grass-fed Kauai beef burger. Now Whole Ox is stepping up its game with dinner hours. Starting today, Aug. 14, and every Tuesday through Saturday night, look for a non-deli menu of steaks and other meats plus sides served up family-style in portions for one, two or four.

“It’s going to be a menu of big, heavy chunks of meat,” says chef-owner Bob McGee. “If we have fresh seafood, expect big chunks of meat on top.” We get the picture. Will you have anything for non-meat eaters? “No,” McGee says. “I’m kidding. Of course we will.” BYOB, BTW — and yes, you can get this burger at dinner.
