Space Art By Kids Wows In Space Foundation Student Contest

What does outer space look like through the eyes of a kid? Pretty impressive. The Space Foundation’s 2012 Student Art Contest made that telescopically clear in the selection of winners above.

The winning artworks, announced April 2, come from K-12 students in four age groups and range from abstract, Starry Night-inspired celestial scenes to gritty, realist astronaut portraits. The Space Foundation is based in Colorado Springs, Colo., but the winning kids came from as far away as Hawaii and Pakistan.
